JOSEPH (JOE) KOWBEL


 


            With great sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph Kowbel at Oakview Place Personal Care Home, at the age of 88 years, on Friday, January 20, 2017. 
            Remaining to mourn Joseph’s passing are his loving wife of 60 years, Helen; daughter Debbie; nieces and nephews, Ross (Kathy), Margaret (Wayne), Sharon, Jason and Larry; great-nieces and great-nephews, Stacey, Karen and Mark; sister-in-law Doris Grierson and brother-in-law, Dan Hrabarchuk.
            For a number of years, Joseph worked at Commercial Stationers and retired from Dave's Quick Print several years later. His favourite hobbies were fishing and horseback riding. 
            Joseph’s Funeral Service will be held this morning, Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins, presider. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue.

I worked with Joe at Dave's Quick Print for several years as I became employed there in the late 80's. 5 1/2 years ago I became one of the two co-owners. There are still six or seven of us working here that knew Joe. Joe was a nice, easy going professional. He knew his job and did it well. He had that calming, father like presence whenever you were around him. Just a really nice man. I don't think anyone would have an unkind thing to say about him. He reminded me of my own...
