Mark Osterhaus presiding.  Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.  The Reiff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born October 12, 1936, in Worthington, Iowa, son of Paul and Anna (Marbach) Lehman.  He received his education in the St. Paul’s School in Worthington.  On January 31, 1959, he was united in marriage to Doris M. Fuller at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa.  She preceded him in death on July 19,  1996.  He was united in marriage to Kay Ridenour on October 24, 2003, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.

Joe established Lehman Auto in 1970, and worked there until his retirement in 2008 and beyond, as his work ethic never allowed him to truly quit.  He spent time building late model stock cars and driving them as well, and he always enjoyed his nightly coon hunts with the gang.  He was a two time Golden glove boxing champion.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, the Cascade Knights of Columbus-Council #930.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Lehman of Cascade; one son, Phil (Jesicah) Lehman of Cascade; two daughters, Tammy (Jim) Connolly of Epworth, IA and Vicky (Terry) Fischer of  Cascade, IA; 11 grandchildren, Joe (Katelyn), Katie Connolly (Special friend, Dustin Edwards), Paula Freund, Jeanette (Nick) Callahan, Rachel (Drew) Higgins, Nicole (Adam) Cook, Wyatt (Cierra), Peyton, Troy, Max and Kat Lehman; 15 great grandchildren; two step-children, Janell (Tim) Parsons and Al (Patty) Dettbarn both of Hopkinton, IA; 4 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren, and several step great-great grandchildren; his in-laws, Lyle (Carol) Ridenour of Marion, and Tom (Juanita) Ridenour of Tiffin.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; all his sisters and brothers, and sisters and brothers-in-laws from the Fuller family, and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Joyce) Ridenour.

The family would like to thank Sherry Kelchen, the staff and nurses at Above and Beyond Hospice and Accura Health and Fr. Mark Osterhaus for all their kindness, care and support.

Our deepest sympathy. Steve and Lori Kremer

Please accept our deepest sympathy on your loss, keeping your family in our prayers during this difficult time.

May you rest in peace. You have surely earned the rest. I remember as a kid riding my bike to United Motors to watch Joe work on his race cars. There were Dodges....Plymouths....Chryslers....old Ford coupes etc. I was fascinated and hooked for life ! Fast forward to racing in the 1960's and 1970's on many of the same tracks as Joe and John Connolly and Verlin Eakers. Always seemed like Joe could fix just about anything or tell very strongly to just throw it away. Fast forward again to June...

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Truly enjoyed times spent with Joe: lots of football games, plays, graduations, and other special times with out shared Lehman Grandchildren. I always saw him with a smile and kind greetings. Love&prayers to the family. God Bless.
