I met Joe only 3 or 4 times.. My sister had rented a room from him for about 2 years.. After speaking to the man and hearing what little he talked of his stories, he handed me his book to read. I was amazed at what these young men, some of them just kids and women had went through. Also after reading the book and seeing with my own eye's the numerous authentic pictures and service awards Joe received from the war and the president, I came to only one conclusion, This was the greatest...

I am writing this with a sad heart. Cousin Joe meant a lot to me and others in our branch of the Lovoi family. We never did narrow down our exact relationship to him. Our family history was specific that before leaving Sicily they agreed not to change the spelling of their name and this is what led us to Joe some years back. I had the honor to meet Joe when searching For a place to live a few years ago.Joe called me and said he has what I was looking for.When I went to see the place,Not only did I love the place,But Joe was so warm,friendly & Kind.My 2 Kids,Sophia & Jade'a Loved him.& so did I.He told me often that he loved me too.Joe will forever be in our hearts & in our souls.I am so extremely grateful I had the honor to be apart of his life.We love you Joe & we"ll miss you.....

My husband and I met Joe about 6 years ago. He was a wonderful man. If people have not read his book about his POW experience, they should. He will be dearly missed. He was smart, funny, giving and a great friend.

Joseph Lovoi and Joe O'Leary, B-17 Aluminum Overcast, August 14th, 2008

I had the honor to meet Joseph Lovoi on August 14th, 2008. We met at the Lawrence Municipal Airport where he was invited to fly on the EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast. Joe spoke of his experiences while serving in the Army Air Corps as a Navagator on B-17's. My Dad was a B-17 Co-Pilot during WWII. Two weeks ago I purchased Joe's book "Listen My Children and Stay Free" I had hoped to meet with Joe sometime soon to have him sign my book. I was saddend yesterday when I learned of his death...
