JOSEPH ELBERT MADDUX Portage, Indiana Joseph Elbert Maddux, age 72, a longtime resident of Portage passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was born on June 5, 1937 in Westport, Indiana, the son of Stanley and Pearl Maddux. Joseph proudly served in the National Guard. He was married to Betty Mae King on December 20, 1960 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a retired surveyor for Local 130 Technical Engineers. Joseph enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, flowers, and gardening. Joseph is survived by his loving family, wife, Betty Mae Maddux, Portage; son, R.C. (Michelle) Ledford, Jr., France, Stanley (Julie) Maddux, New Buffalo, MI; daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Matthews, Portage; grandchildren, Aaron, Travis, Tyler, Jade, Monica, Nicole, Samantha, and Michael; one great-grandchild; brother, David Maddux, Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Margaret McCollough, Westport, Rosemary Maddux, Brooksville, FL, Lois Holzhouse, Westport, Barbara Faidly, Indianapolis, Harriet (Fred) Cruser, Westport, Bonnie (Ted) Sims, Sardinia, and Rachel Brophy, Muncie; and other loving family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bob Maddux. A visitation for Joseph Maddux will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home-Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A Funeral Service for Joseph Maddux will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home, with Reverend James R. Fielder officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in Joseph's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
