Joseph Marcin, 93, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in Allentown on November 23, 1924 to the late John, Sr. and Anna (Pavlick) Marcin. He was the husband of the late Elsie (Brem) Marcin with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage prior to her death on November 27, 2016.
Joseph worked for the U.S. Postal Service, but he was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Vance 387. He was a huge Penn State football fan, attending most home and several away games for 41 years. He attended 32 PSU bowl games. Joseph loved to travel and was most proud to take his family to many places, a few including, Hawaii, Mexico, Aruba, Jamaica and Disney World.
He will be sorely missed by his daughters, Judith, wife of Thomas Thomasik and Karen, wife of George Boksan; grandsons, Erik Thomasik and wife, Erin, and Jonathan Boksan and wife, Laura; sister, Mary Anthus; brother-in-law, John Brem; several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by brother, John Marcin, Jr. and sister, Anna Moyer.
Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 6th at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 3024 S. Ruch St., Whitehall. Family and friends may gather 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in loving memory of Joseph.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be presented to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dreams Come True or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton. Online condolences may be submitted above.
