Read MoreCoach Marvin was a no nonsense coach who believed in the basics... everything started from there. I played for him at Cabrillo in 1973 and 74. I have been coaching high school football for 35 years and repeat many of his sayings today... like, press the kicking game for here the breaks are made. Coach Marvin was a solid coach who won.

I'm heartbroken to hear of his passing. I loved Joe Marvin. He was my coach at Cabrillo. He was a role model to me to say the least. I will miss his presence. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

I had Joe as a PE teacher in 1962. You could tell that he was 'always' in charge! I played football for 4 years...as a freshman Joe named me 'Rick the Rogue Hoag'...I carried this as a badge of honor. Joe you were a high point in my life! Thank you Joe!!
