Dr Masci was a unique person, physician, teacher and mentor. I was blessed to have trained in ID with him, he was an exceptional role model. He transmitted his broad knowledge in a gentle, calm and composed manner which endeared patients, trainees and colleagues alike. American International Health Alliance (AIHA), who partnered with Dr. Masci and Elmhurst Hospital, on the projects mentioned in Ethiopia and Russia, mourns his loss and extends its deepest sympathy.

Deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Masci. I was a resident at Elmhurst Hosp in the 80's and he inspired and encouraged me to pursue a career in Infectious Diseases. He was a superb teacher and mentor. My prayers to his family.
