I'll always remember you as "Uncle Joe" My Dad, Al Baltier, loved you as a friend, brother, and fellow Marine. I'll never forget how kind you were to me and my sister Anita, when we were children. God Bless all of your family. SEMPER FI

How do you say thank you to a kind man who had so much to give, but asked for so little? I would listen for hours as you would share your life experiences, taking away a better appreciation for the "Greatest Generation". I welcomed your thoughtful advise to a future Marine who's path is uncertain. I embraced the guidance you gave from one Devildog to another. I'd thank you Pop, but your modest nature would explain, "It's not a bother."

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
