Joseph S. Matney

Joe became a friend the first time we had lunch together at MITRE in the early 1970s. I was "Joe College", and he was "Dr. J", and he took me under his wing a bit, helped me adjust to the working world, and became a pal for the rest of his life. So many fishing trips, so many tales told around a campfire on a dinner table -- these memories will not fade. Joe was perhaps the most sincere and thoughtful person I've had the pleasure to know. It is a joy and blessing to have known Joe and Chris for many years, through church, Emmaus, school, and the neighborhood. And it is a sorrow to read about his (and Chris's previous) passing. While time and geography can mean drifting apart, thoughts and fond memories bring us together.
