Joseph Robert 'Bob' Matthews ROBBINSVILLE Joseph Robert "Bob" Matthews, affectionately known as Pop, 76, of Robbinsville, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Born in Yardville, Bob was a longtime resident of Robbinsville. A former major in the NJ National Guard, Bob was a 1956 graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School and completed his electrician's apprenticeship at Trenton Central High School. Bob retired as a union electrician and a member of IBEW Local 269. Bob was extremely hard working. He enjoyed spending a lifetime farming and gardening. He had a deep devotion to all animals, especially his pets. A kindhearted man, Bob was always willing to help anyone in need. He was devoted to his family, loved spending time in Cape May, and adored his grandchildren and great-grandson. Son of the late Robert Stanton and Florence Olszak Matthews, he was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Rita Gail and John Eleuteri; his brother, Shawn P. Matthews; his brother-in-law, Al Demirtas, and his niece, Maureen Eleuteri. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Jean Pilato Matthews; his children, Mary Jo Haluska and her husband, Michael, of Chesterfield, Michael Andrew Matthews and his girlfriend, Rose Hultz, of Arneytown, and David Matthews of Robbinsville; his beloved grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Kelly, Harry and Sophia; his honorary granddaughters, Angela and Nicole; great-grandson, Forrest; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Mary Matthews of Jobstown and John Stanton and Betty Jane Matthews of Hamilton; his sisters and brother-in-law, Jeanne Matthews and Florence Matthews, both of Cream Ridge, and Eileen and Philip Foga of Browns Mills; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis and Susan Pilato of North Port, FL, and Joseph and Linda Pilato of Hamilton, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 14, at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Cape May County Zoo, P.O. Box 864, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
