Joseph S. McCann

Back in the 1950´s my Dad hired Joe who was in high school as a part time worker at the Acme Market in Montrose. I got to know Joe at that time. In later years I enjoyed reminiscing with him at the Montrose July 4th celebrations. Joe it was great to know you. Rest in peace my friend.

Joe McCann was my youngest brother's father-in-law, and I always enjoyed chatting with him at our family social gatherings. He certainly had a long and adventurous life, and he impressed me as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. May he rest in eternal peace.

Joann, Leigh, and Virginia, I am a neighbor from Magothy Meadows. I had the pleasure of working with Joe on some issues that affected the entire neighborhood, such as the pedestrian crosswalk at the College Parkway intersection, which ultimately evolved into a signal with an exclusive pedestrian phase. Joe wrote a lot of letters making a convincing case for the improvements. He was an active warrior even in his later years. And he knew how to make a strong case while brandishing a...
