Not sure what to say?

I started with Modern in 1983 and in 1984 became administrative assistant to Mr. McEwen whose first request was, “just promise me you’ll stay with me until I retire.” He was 63 years old and I thought how hard can this be? Within one year I realized his fast pace (too many balls in the air), his leadership (what can I do better), his sense of humor (both his clean and crude limericks) and his strong compassion for people (because life gets complicated).

Joe played a big part in both our lives for many years. He gave us many opportunities to grow. I even shared his love of antique cars and we attended a few shows together. With Joe, the employees always came first.

My colndolences to the McEwen family & best wishes.

I will always remember how much a good friend Mr. McEwen was to my father (Edward Reed) and our family. My sincere sympathy goes to his family.

My condolences to the McEwen family & Modern family. Joe was larger than life yet always connected to everyone he met. I will always remember his insatiable curiosity & intellect about so many subjects. Thank you, Joe, for many wonderful memories. The world has lost a great man.

What can be said that hasn't already been expressed in this book....Joe has influenced and touched so many people, what a legacy to leave behind! A man of integrity, a real gentleman.....He will be missed!

Joe McEwen developed a company serving as an employer and an industrial force. He is to be celebrated for these and his many other accomplishments, his driving will lives on.

Dear McEwen Family,
My families hearts and prayers are with you. I was blessed to know Joe and to be part of the Modern family. He is now in a place to watch over all and we must continue what he built for all of us. We will make him proud. God Bless.

Joe always went out of his way to greet me or listen to thoughts anyone had. He had my greatest respect. Rest in peace.
