Farewell Joe, the proudest Scotsman I have ever known (after all, everything was invented in Scotland!!).You were a passionate politician. A devoted Freemason. A generous and caring man and a an absolute pleasure to work with. I will treasure those day working at Wilton and miss those great big bear hugs. I remember Joe when he came to the Gear Homestead Porirua where I was a Caretaker there. His catering was great and I recommend him to brides. Jamie you use to come and help sometimes. A very nice man.

Great memories come flooding back of the days selling the best NZ cheeses to Joe at Wellington Caterers, Wilton House then calling in for coffee and cake at the Galleria cafe round the corner in Lower Hutt. To the family, you are not alone as there are many who share your sadness at this time and may this bring you comfort. Rest in Peace Joe.

Known for being ruthless, hard, fair, honorable, supportive, glorified, protective, loving, caring and most of all... you were a Scotsman through and through... thank you Chef for being a guiding light and that special knight in shining armor for so many of us... that's the McTaggart I got to know... farewell old friend and thank you. ka nui nga mihi...
