Joseph John Meeko

Here are some random thoughts about Joe. I can't believe it's been 40 years since Joe and I trained at the 'Body Factory'. He was well liked at the gym, people spoke of him with a reverence. I guess we were proud that here was a Mr. America / Mr. Universe that trained at our gym. Joe was always in shape and was a great poser, also had the best smile in bodybuilding. His back and legs would still hold up today - they were that good. In my opinion Joe had 2 or 3 poses that have never been...

I trained at 'The Body Factory' with Joe in the late 70's and early 80's. I was a couple of years older than he was and I never got to know him real good. We were friendly, but not close friends. I was quiet and kept to myself and he was too. Now, reading about his interests, I wish we had got to know each other. His interests were very similar to mine. I never achieved what he did but I did win my class and finish second in the 'Mr. Lehigh Valley' one year. Always admired him, wish I hadn't...

Joey ... 4 years ago you left us ... but we KNOW you & Dad will continue to watch over us. Zak's doing great; he gets promoted this month in the USAF. I'm trying to convince Mom to move to FL, & Ed & I are loving life on our Lake. Loving & missing you, Brother, & your JOE MEEKO POWER GRIPS will continue on; just wish YOU (& Dad) were here to do it; I can't do what you did ... travel to gyms, etc. So many people/colleagues are missing you & your expertise ... Until we meet again ...

i met joe a few times at millards fitness center in reading PA back in the mid 80s.all of us who trained at and competed for millards were happy to talk to a champion bodybuilder. joe always took time to answer all of our questions ( no matter how dumb ) ! so sorry to learn joe has passed on. but we will always remember him for the great guy and true champion he was. R.I.P. joe.
