Joseph Modzelewski

Donna I remember you and Joe coming to our house in Enfield with Fran, Vin, Flub and Eddie. My parents, Auntie Lee and Unc, were always happy to see you and I was too! I was little at that time, but I could never forget about the people who always so nice and so much fun. Joe was a great guy and you were always a lovely couple. God bless you all! From Michael Acquaro. Coach came in before the school day started and mended my ankle so I could practice football in the afternoon. He was a rare mix between coach and a (real) mentor.

My dad, Edmund, coached Mr. Modzelewski. I remember looking up at him as he ate his soft ice cream at Ed and Fran's in the late 1950's, and looking up again as he tried to make me tough through football. Coach was a nice man. I am a better man today because of him..

I benefited from knowing Coach Joe Modzelewski as a gym teacher and track coach in the early 1970s. Even when he was not coaching me, he took an active interest in how I was doing as a student and athlete. He could be gruff, but there was no mistaking his warm heart and good intentions. Coach Modzelewski had a profound effect on several members of my Agawam High School class. My best wishes to Joe´s extended family and the Agawam community.

Sending all my love and condolences to all in the Modzelewski family. I have such fond memories of Coach. He will surely be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a great guy! John remembers him from his days at Cowing Jr High in West Side. You all have our deepest sympathy. He will always be remembered fondly.
