Tom, I was so saddened to hear about Joe's passing. He was such a great friend and hunting partner during our years with the phone company. My prayers are with you and your family.

To Susan and Family, As all of you know I was very close to Joe and cannot believe he has left us. Susan when you came to tell me he was gone I felt such a big loss because I can honestly say he was a very sweet and kind man and the memories we had together will never be forgotten. Hopefully now he will find peace and happiness. I hope he will see my MOM because he really did care for her and so did she. If there is anything that you need me to do or need a friend to talk to do not...

Tom, I'm so sorry to hear about Joe's passing, what a sad day for all who knew him.Joe and I worked together on and off for many years at BellSouth as you and I did. I remember in 1974 Joe bought a corvettte and drove over to my house and let me drive it around town.Joe and I had talked earlier about corvettes and how I would really like to drive one someday.Thats the type of guy Joe was and why he will be missed by all.My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the Murphree Family, Because we haven't met I hope you understand how I KNOW what a wonderful man was Joe. You won't find it hard to believe he was kind and dear to me the short time we knew each other. His closeness with each of you was something he spoke easily and happily of often. The time he spent with you seemed the IMPORTANT part of living for him. As shocking as his leaving is for me, I can only begin to feel for you. God be with you..Joe was a worthy man. ...

What a shock to read about Joe in today's paper. He was an old and dear friend with whom I had lost contact over the years. My memories of Joe are mainly of a man in his late twenties and early thirties. He enriched my life with his friendship. Joe loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He also had a special affinity for owning and driving Corvettes.
I pray for God to bring strength and comfort to Joe's family during this difficult time.

Susan, I am so sorry for you and your family for the loss of Joe. I only got to met Joe once, but he seemed like such a fine person. If there is anything you or your family needs just ask. Leon

The Final Salute

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Joseph Edward Murphree our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Joe. And to Joe it is rendeBiilly as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted...
