Not sure what to say?

Joe was my classmate in the MHSc program and we stayed in touch throughout the years. I visited him in Vancouver at his beckoning and had the most amazing time with him as we worked our way through the treasures in the apartment with such a glorious view. He was a great colleague and an inspirational 'Cape Breton boy' who dedicated his worklife to occupational health based on the health impact of coal-mining on his father. My deepest condolences to all who cared for him over the years. Lynn...

I was saddened today as I read about Joseph passing. He was the kindest man I had ever meet. I meet Joseph and Robert at my uncles funeral (Paul Legault). I got to know more of who my Uncle was through Joseph and his kind words and stories of my uncle. I will always treasure that wonderful time I spent in Vancouver because of both Joseph and Robert. thank you and god bless.

Joe Nearing, what an amazing friendly, daring, playful, courageous man. My partner Bob Loncar, and I were lucky to have known him by Internet from across a continent, and to have visited him in his home. We will miss his gentle, honest friendship and love. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones near and far.

I worked with Dr. Nearing at the Seymour Medical Clinic in Vancouver. He was always such a kind, gentle and caring individual. I am so sorry to hear about his passing.

I was saddened to read about Joe's passing today. I'm sorry I was out of town and missed yesterday's memorial service. I have good memories of Joe from our high school years at St. Mary's. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear Christine , family and friends, Our sincerest condolences on the passing of Dr. Joseph Nearing. He was truly a very gifted man and had an eye for beautiful things, especially on the donation of his art collection to the museum in Cape Breton Island. It will be enjoyed by others for many many years. Sincerely, Trudi and Mike Rodrigues

Joseph was a distinguished gentleman who enhanced the hours I spent with him in his stunning homes, homes filled with the eclectic collection of treasures from all over the world. His knowledge of the worlds of medicine, antiques, culture and human behaviour brought great delight to me. I send my condolences to all who loved him.
