Hello Dr. Notterman, I was one of your first pediatric patients, Cathy Long. I am reading about your husband and am so sorry for your loss. I remember you speaking about him and I think he must have been an interesting man to share your life with. My sympathies to you. I am married and living in Lexington, KY. I have been an RN for 30 years now, most of it in pediatrics at Univ. of KY. I think your pediatric influence rubbed off on me! Again, I am so sad to hear of your husbands passing.

For us Joe was a link to a bright, wise, grounded loving past. May it be a source of comfort to you, Becky, Danny, Abby, Risa and Fred, that his values and deep love of family which so touched us, will live on not only through you, but us as well. Joe was a Mensch in the true sense of that word. We share your loss!
Love, Elsie Adler and Family

I remember first meeting Dr. Notterman while a young, homesick student at Peddie School. He and I spent a day working on a small bridge on the property,or some kind of drainage project. I always remembered how he talked to me. He asked me questions that were genuine and not phony, and he made me feel like I belonged on the farm.He modeled for me the importance of treating young adults with respect and interest. I was privileged to know him. My heart is with the Nottermans during this difficult...

Becky and Joe were our first friends after we married and moved to Stuyvesant Town. Joe was always a wise and sympathetic friend who was more experienced than we and had a sense of humor that sustained all four of us during medical school.
We will remember him always,
