JOSEPH PARIMUCHA Obituary

JOSEPH PATRICK PARIMUCHA (Age 78)
On October 18, 2015 of Alexandria, VA, beloved husband of Barbara Jeanne Huelat for 24 years. Loving grandfather of Clara and Wade Tucker. Born in Sharon, PA, he learned the violin at a young age, and he and his school friends created a gypsy band. His skills landed him and his violin on the stage of the Kennedy Center. He was class president of Hickory HS in 1955. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961, achieving the rank of captain. He earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from Carnegie Mellon University in 1960 and a master's degree in Public Health & Medical Planning and Design from Columbia University in 1964. Mr. Parimucha specialized in healthcare design, and some of his projects include St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA, and King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His deep faith led him to church architecture. He and his wife traveled throughout Eastern Europe studying Byzantine churches. He designed Saints Cyril and Methodios Church in Mercer, PA, Holy Resurrection in Potomac, MD and Holy Transfiguration in McLean, VA. The Orthodox Christian Church acknowledged his deep devotion and architectural contributions by nominating him into the Order of St. Andrew the First Called-Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Everyone who knew Mr. Parimucha knew his passion for photography. His last photo was a still life of the Orthodox cross in front of his wedding photo, capturing his two greatest loves: his wife and his church. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Potomac, MD. Visitation 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Parastas at 7 p.m. A second service will be held on Friday, October 23 at Saints Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church, Camp Nazareth, Mercer, PA. Visitation 9 a.m. Funeral Service 10 a.m. Internment to follow at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Cemetery, Hermitage, PA. The family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to: Camp Nazareth (339 Pew Road, Mercer PA 16137). This is a nonprofit children's camp. Mr. Parimucha designed their chapel.

Barbara, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Joe. I enjoyed interacting with Joe over the years, engaging him in deep conversations on varied topics. Dearest Barbara--
My most vivid memories of Joe are visual--him behind a camera--focused on his most beloved wife. A dear soul indeed--
