I just learned of Joe's passing. We met ages ago when our paths crossed providing health care to inmates. Over the years, he has been one of the shining lights in jail and prison health. His advocacy on behalf of the incarcerated and his education of correctional medicine clinicians has led to immeasurable improvements in correctional public health. Truly an amazing man. And fun to be with. I will never again raise a glass of Argentine Malbec without remembering the man who introduced me to it. All my best to his family...

I just received word of, and am saddened to learn of Dr. Paris' passing. We involved him as an expert in a couple of our correctional legal cases and I was impressed with his knowledge. I send many sincere condolences to his family and friends and pray for comfort and healing of all. My stepmom is battling pancreatic cancer right now, it is tough to be strong, but hope prevails. I hope you find comfort in fond memories of Dr. Paris and his contributions to correctional medicine. RIP Dr. Paris, fly with the Angels, you've grown your wings.

I was so sorry to learn of Joe's passing. He and I worked together for more than seven years at the GA DOC Office of Health Services and he was always professional, knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. I appreciated and enjoyed working with him. Mary Ellen Lane

Hi Mary, I didn't get the pleasure to meet Dr. Paris. However, if he was married to you, I know he knew great things when he found them. You are truly a treasure and know that you and you and your family have my deepest sympathy during this tough time. Know Dr. Paris is in a much better place than we are and keep his great memories strong. Love and prayers are with you all.

Mary,
Joe will be remembered as a learned physician who truly made a difference. He will be missed by his peers who looked to him for guidance. ... The Society of Correctional Physicians has chosen to honor him by creating a lecture series in his name. This is very appropriate because Joe was truly an inspiration to the field of medicine that he chose as his career. I am so proud to call him my colleague and my friend...

I worked with Dr. Paris as an expert witness in the past 2 years. He was extremely intelligent, kind, balanced, and treated each case as an opportunity to teach me something new. He was a wonderful man.

Dear Paris family,
I was very saddened to hear about your loss. As a child I spent a lot of time with your family and had the opportunity to experience Dr. Paris' many talents and wisdom. I remember one particular evening when the lights went out at your house during dinner and he played tango on his accordion at candle light. He was a special person. My deepest sympathy to you all.

Dear Paris Family,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Joe. Please accept my condolences. I still miss him and the kids when I am working on the railroad equipment during our museum work days. I always hoped he would return to Jacksonville one weekend to see what we were working on, and even lend a hand. Dr. Joe was a great man and will truly be missed. May the Peace of the Lord be with you all. Sincerely,
William A. Billy, Jr., President, North Florida Railway Museum, Inc.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr Paris in Florida and as an NCCHC auditor for over 25 years. He was respectful, engaging and at times funny. He shared his wealth of knowledge selfishly. He will be missed immensely. The Correctional community has lost a real trooper and advocate.
My condolences to his wife and family

Dr. Joe was truly an inspiration to both the staff and clinic at DeKalb County Board of Health. He practiced servant leadership and provided high quality, compassionate, and culturally competent care to one of the most stigmatized populations in Georgia.
His legacy will endure.

Paris Family-Thank you for always allowing me to be a part of your family and for allowing me to get to know all of you MUCH more these past few years. I will always remember Mr.Paris for the wonderful meal or two I had at his home (especially the one where he got me to try Asparagus) and I actually liked it.:) I will always be grateful for the last time I saw him which was back in March when he seamed to be at his happiest on his daughter's wedding day! That's the way I will always remember him! You will be truly missed by all! R.I.P.

I have been so blessed to know the Paris family, you are all incredible. Mr. Paris was a good family man, caring husband, an awesome doctor, a talented musician and a kind and warm hearted person. He gave so much to the medical field, he will be missed by all of the people he touched and your musical talents can never be replaced. Dear Paris family,
we were deeply saddened by the death of Joseph. This must be very difficult for you.
"Pepe", as we called him, was such a kind and considerate person, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We will miss his trips to his home country and playing with us at the HOT CLUB ROSARIO in Argentina
I remember the time when we toured with our gipsy jazz string quintet.
We hope that you can all take comfort and strength from the wonderful family you had together.
May God bless your family during this time and always.

Although I only knew Dr. Paris and his wife a short time through his work with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, I have read his many published works and know of his great service to correctional health care professionals and their patients. The world is a better place because of Joseph Paris.
