What a rich full life and legacy Joe left. He was a good friend to so many people and his death leaves a void in our lives that is only partially filled by remembering all that he did to make this world a better place. I think his life was well spent and am better for having known him. Mike, Tim, Cheryl, & Andy you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers as you move through this time of grief and loss. Take good care of each other. I can only echo what March Seabrook said; "Go Terriers"

We have lost a great citizen in Col. Pate. He was a father figure to so many people. He always had time to chat. I ahve very fond memories of him coming by my glass operation just to say hello and maybe a cup of coffee. He was one of this states best football officials. He always called the spring football game for the University Of South Carolina. I will miss Col Pate. What a fine gentleman and leader. He had know fear when there was an answer. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his...

Joe was a great man and I am certainly better off from having known him. I learned something new every time I talked with him. How or why he took the stairs when he came to see me I will never know. He had strength and courage that I can only imagine and I will really miss him.
