JOSEPH F. PATTEN, SR., age 94, native of Saula, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Beloved husband of 64 years to Mary (nee Lydon); loving father of Johnny, Mary Czaplicki (Ted), Joe Jr. (Josephine), Dennis (Gale), Brigid Dunlap (Tim) and Kathleen Hennessey (Tom); grandfather of 18; great-grandfather of 19 and 2 on the way; son of the late Brigid and Martin Patten; brother of Martha Sweeney of Achill and the late John, Martin, Patrick, Owen, Catherine, Michael and James (all of Ireland), Dennis of Cleveland and Mary Lydon of Oakland, CA; beloved uncle and great uncle of many. Retired 50 year member of Operating Engineers Local 18 and longtime member of the West Side Irish American Club. Passed away September 15, 2016. Funeral Mass Saturday, September 17, St. Patrick Church (West Park) at 9:30 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, FRIDAY 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. With sadness I read in the newsletter today that Joe had passed away. It was always a pleasure meeting both him and Mary here in Achill or in Cleveland. He always had a big welcoming smile.
