Not sure what to say?

In a perfect world, we would be on a trail ride - you on Britches, me on Shadow, the dogs darting back and forth around us. Of course we'd be riding in the forest, climbing the cliffs and occasionally stopping to enjoy the scenery. (I can see you now, leaning forward on the horn, looking off into the distance.) There would be no words; the only sounds would be the horses’ hooves on the trail, the squeak of the saddle's leather and an occasional bird or two. And on that wonderful and beautiful...

May you and your family fill your hearts with wonderful memories of your father. Your dad seemed to love life outdoors. The following poem seems to suit him......

"Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quite birds in circled flight. I am the...

Thank you all for your stories and messages. They mean so much to those of us that continue to miss him every day.

What the heart has once known, it shall never forget and what we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we have loved deeply becomes a part of us.

With wonderful, loving memories,

I lived close to Joe Pieper in the Ridge Condominiums and got to know Joe even better when I became a member of Ridge HOA Board. Although presenting a gruff exterior to the outside, Joe was certainly the most passionate advocate for maintaining the landscape and the appearance of the Ridge. If our landscaper ever forgot to fertilize the lawn or to clean up in the spring or fall, I could expect an impassioned, acerbic email from Joe to take action so that quality of the Ridge’s appearance...

My first introduction to Joe was at my first annual condominium home owner's meeting for The Ridge, which was in 1997. Linda and I left the meeting wondering who this outspoken man was that would voice his opinion in such a commanding way that his conviction for what he was saying was the indisputable truth. He was forbidding. I came to better understand Joe as a man who could elegantly espress what he felt, regardless of what you may want to hear. I admire his ability to represent his...
