Not sure what to say?

Ditto what brother Frank posted. You could spend a lifetime and would not find a more generous, genuine, joyful and warm hearted soul than Joseph. Always looked forward to seeing Joe.

Was chef at the Riversmere in the early 80's. Chef Joe was hard, fair and a great teacher. I owe my love of my craft to his persistence for excellence. Chef has left the line! Thank you Chef for what you taught and what you gave.

I worked for Joe at Riversmere in Portsmouth summer of 81 bussing tables. Moved up to waiter for next few summers at Rye on the Rocks. Great gig while in college in RI. Plus did a stint bartending and waiting at Winter Street later on. His joints always full ,tips plentiful, Cool music, great food and restaurant mojo. Sunday jazz brunch a happening for years on beach in Rye Annie Bostille at the piano. Joseph at the center of it with a story or two or three ..lol. He was the owner but also...
