Joseph Howard "Joe" POWELL

Went to be with his Lord on April 30, 2013 at home in Santa Rosa at the age of 85. He was born in Rathdrum, ID and has been a Sonoma County resident for the past 43 years. Joe served our country in the US Army in Korea. He was a Marine Biology Professor at Sonoma State University for many years. Joe retired early to enjoy his grandkids, woodworking, writing, photography and many other interests. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eloise Powell; four children, Jonathan (Marie) Powell, Susan (Tim) Cummerford, Scott Powell & Kirk Powell; six grandchildren & four great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, 1135 Farmers Lane, Santa Rosa. Private burial services were held at PLEASANT HILLS MEMORIAL PARK & MORTUARY, Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's name to the Redwood Gospel Mission or S.S.U.
