Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home Obituary

Joseph Patrick Quinn, 95 years young, of Scott Township, Pennsylvania passed away on March 14, 2024 after a very long and fruitful life filled with a loving and loyal wife, Lucinda Ann (LuAnn) Shreve Quinn, a very large family, many friends, friendly, caring neighbors, cuddly puppies, Mother Nature, his country, and their beautiful home. These are the people and things that truly mattered to Joseph Quinn.  By the way, many knew him as Pat.

He loved and cherished his wife, family, and friends. They meant the world to him. He was very proud of his community and the friends and acquaintances in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and his place of birth, Indiana. He was always there to lend a helping hand to loved ones, friends, and neighbors.

Joseph P. Quinn was born on February 7, 1929 to John Frances Quinn and Elizabeth Quinn in Fort Wayne Indiana with his older sister Constance (Quinn) Arnold, wife of Keith Arnold, and his younger brother, Thomas Quinn, husband to Elizabeth.

After graduating with a diploma from Southside High School in 1947, he met Lucinda Ann Shreve and briefly attended Indian Purdue University - Fort Wayne. Soon they would wed.

While he was serving his country in the Marine Corps in Korea during the Korean War, they would have a child together; Deborah Jo Quinn.

During his service in Korea, he was struck by shrapnel and suffered injuries. For this service and injuries while in conflict, he received the Purple Heart. Joseph left the Marine Corps Honorably and returned home to his wife and newborn child.

In the earlier days of Josephs' and LuAnn’s' marriage, Joseph worked in the Manufacturing industry at Dana Corporation, then was promoted to management at Fruehauf Trailer in Ohio, where he developed new processes for the Axle Assembly, then he moved with that contract to The Bud Company in Detroit Michigan.

Eventually, Joseph landed a great career opportunity at the Chrysler Corporation where he worked in management for 20 years.

Josephs' final years were with the once Chrysler TACOM that became General Dynamics Land Systems in Scranton Pennsylvania where he made his and LuAnn’s final home in 1980.

A beautiful and dandy home it was.  Joseph Quinn was a very handy man indeed. He took on all kinds of interior and exterior building projects, always done with impeccable skill. He was a natural builder and producer of things. He loved his gardens… Especially his prized tomatoes. His landscapes were always well designed and maintained. He was still climbing ladders at 93 years old.

Joseph Quinn was not a person to sit around.  He loved playing cards with his wife Luann and friends, gardening, and doing projects around the house.  He shared his skills and knowledge with every one of his children.

Our Dad was a father, grandfather, and a very proud great grandfather, coach, a debater, a friend, an excellent role model, and proud marine.

He and his wife Luann attended every one of their kids’ concerts, ballgames, and events.  Oh, and just for the record, he was a great moral compass and cheerleader when we needed a little help steering in the right direction.

During those many years of marriage to Luann, they would give birth to and raise three more children; Steven Patrick Quinn, Douglas Michael Quinn, and Mark Harrison Quinn.

Joseph and LuAnn’s' offspring… All surviving!

Debrorah and her husband Steven Kropchak would give birth to and raise three children; Daniel, Michele, and Holly.

Daniel and Jennifer would have two children, Brianna and Jacob.

Michele and Brian LaPorte two kids, Emma and Joey.

Holly and Todd Litton would have three children, Jude, Vivienne, and Siena

Steve and his wife Kim Charleston would give birth and raise two children, Elizabeth and Lindsey.

Elizabeth and Craig Demarco would give birth to Piper, and Quinn.

Lindsey and Blake have given birth to one child, Noah.

Doug (now with Celeste McKeon for 18 years and her son, Forrest) with his ex-wife Heidi would give birth and raise three children, Samantha, Kathleen, and Casey.

Samantha and Josh Burns would give birth to and raise Charlize, Brett, Logan, and Amelia

Kathleen and Kyle Ketzler have given birth to Sunday.

Mark and Bette Rose would give birth and raise three children, Alicia, Michael, and Meghan.

The Viewing will be held Thursday, March 21st @ 5-7pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home in Clarks Summit, PA.
