McCann-Healey Funeral Home - Gloucester City Obituary

Joseph Ramirez passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022. He was 55.

Loving husband to Brenda Ramirez (nee Gallagher). Adoring father of JC, Tyler, and Ryan. Loving son of Antonia (nee Estrella). Beloved brother of Orlando, Jr. (Mildred), Carlos (Gary), and Debbie (Jamie). Also survived by his nephews, Orlando III, John (Christina), Kevin, great nephew, John Jr., and great niece, Gabriella.  Along with uncles, aunts, cousins, and many close friends who were like family to him.

Joe was born in the Bronx, New York to Antonia and the late Orlando, Sr. Joe served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. After retirement in 2007, he embarked on his next adventure as an AFJROTC Aerospace Science Instructor.  Joe truly thrived at mentoring young adolescents to always see their potential and encouraged them to raise the bar.

Joe’s love for his wife and children was evident in everything he did. Joe and Brenda took their daily walk, enjoyed their weekend morning coffee before the kids got up, and he was always up for a dance around the kitchen. Joe’s sons, JC, Tyler, and Ryan are notably his greatest accomplishment. Joe could be found on a field cheering on his sons, Tyler and Ryan.  He was, and always will be, their biggest fan.  Joe’s oldest son, JC, was the apple of his eye and he always shared how proud he was of him and was looking forward to JC’s next chapter.  It was always the five of them and their bond is unbreakable.

If you truly knew Joe, you knew that he was a diehard, and at times, a verrrrryyyy animated NY sports fan.  He was quick with a stat or recommendation for the coach! Boone needs to go! Traveling to MLB parks around the country and collecting memorabilia were favorite past times. Roberto Clemente was his all time favorite player.

Joe made friends everywhere he went and earned the respect of so many of his peers. Joe was a giving, caring, and selfless soul. Smart and a perfectionist, almost to a fault. Joe was very meticulous and would describe himself as occasionally being “stubborn.”  He was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out. Because he was a big kid at heart, his nephews adored him along with the children of his close friends. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he loved them.

Joe loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that Joe is at rest with his father, Orlando, and father-in-law, Jerry.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joe’s Wake at the Gallagher Home, 134 S. Broadway, Gloucester City on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 12 Noon to 10 PM where Joe’s remains will lay in repose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Gloucester City. The live-streaming of the Mass can be viewed at 11 AM at https://www.facebook.com/GloucesterSMCChurch

Interment with U.S. Air Force Honors will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Dear Brenda, JC, Tyler, and Ryan,

I am so sorry for your loss. I only had a short time to come to know "Jay", but I will always remember his kindness, humor, and love for all of you. Heaven gained a truly magnificent person. Know that we are all here for you and thinking of you.

Brenda, JC, Tyler and Ryan. The Lupex family is sending you so much love and prayers. Words can't express our sadness at hearing of Joe's passing. He was a family member more than a friend as we consider all of you. It's hard for me to write this because this is so out of the blue. Joe will sincerely be missed by us and all those that he touched. May God bless all of you.

I met Joey at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK back in the late 80s, early 90s. We lived in the same dorm and would sometimes go workout together at the base gym. He was “good people!” Still can’t believe he’s goneand gone way too soon. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. May the loving memories of his joyful spirit comfort you in your time of bereavement.

I'm deeply sorry for all who Joey had an impact to
especially his wife, children, family and many friends.
Joey held a special place
in my heart during a
special time in our lives. We were all young (Boricua) men serving our country and living in a strange place abroad (Philippines). We had an immediate bond as Joey was always easy going with comforting confidence. Joey always seem to know what to say and when to say it; he always made everything better. He was truly...

Our deepest condolences and prayers. Msgt Ramirez will be sadly missed.

An outstanding role model, involved teacher, and amiable individual, Joseph Ramirez will be remembered by all those he influenced, whether they be students, family, or friends. A man of good humor and candid character, few are so loved as he was, and may this love carry his memory.

I just wanted to THANK YOU
and Brenda for welcoming me and my son in your family. I am grateful that I got a chance to spend special moments with you.
