Not sure what to say?

Each of you has my sincerest sympathy on your loss of Joe. You will be remembered in prayer in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

I love hearing the stories about Uncle Joe's days from the PD Sports Line. I was a avid caller back in the day. Thank you all for sharing....God bless you Uncle Joe.

Joe was a great family man, a great mentor and even a greater friend. I am a better person for having the privilege to be one of his friends for many years. Rest in Peace, Joe

Trish and family - Sorry for your loss. Don and I send our sincere sympathy.
God bless you all.
Don and Reenie Mayle, Daniels, WV

Joe Sammon was a great newspaper man and an even better friend. It was a privilege to have worked with him and to have known him. His gravelly voice may now be still, but I can still hear it. RIP

I have wonderful memories of Joe and regret very much being unable to pay my respects in person.

Condolences to the Sammon family from Joe's "other family" -- the PD high school staff of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. The incredible amount of work he put into getting EVERY SCORE IN THE STATE during football and basketball season and compiling records and schedules on every Ohio scholastic team went unrecognized and unappreciated except by those who worked with him. Such diligence and dedication from an organized "behind the scenes" field general made The Plain Dealer sports section exemplary.
