Not sure what to say?

Just found out today that a very special priest died this past November. I am sad but will always be grateful for the friendship and spiritual guidance Fr. Des gave me during my many annual retreats at Holy Family Retreat House. Fr. Des, a faithful disciple of God, sharing the love of Jesus with others in so many special ways. Peace!

I loved Fr. Des! What a holy and kind priest. I was able to get to know him from my days as a campus minister at UD Jesuit in Detroit. Holy Family Retreat House, Fr. Des, Sr. Rose, Wendy, Judy and Ron will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace dear Father.

Father Des,
December 16, 2015 From my brother in Vancouver who happened to read it in a Toronto newspaper, I've just learned of your passing in mid November! Christmas in heaven will celebrate additional joy with you there another Redemptorist saint! Blessings and Cheers! Along with all the great CSsR members, you'll be long and well remembered! And special condolences to all the Scanlan family members! Peter Eldridge,Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, former Brockville classmate, and long-time...

I had the pleasure of meeting Fr. Des while on retreat at Medaille House in London many years ago and then at Holy Family Retreat Centre in Oxley. What a wonderful, kind man. My condolences to his family.

What a wonderful priest and human being Fr. Scanlan was. I recall so many warm memories of Holy Redeemer College, and many of them involve this lovely man and his wonderful sense of humour. He had a gift for preaching and his kind ways were a shining example for all. Such a gifted "Man of God" will be deeply missed.

My sincere condolences to Fr. Scanlon's family and particularly to his Redemptorist brothers. "Scan" was a man who walked among and with MANY people who will always remember him for his open and loving pastoral presence....truly a wonderful friend. Thank you for all, Des.

He was the best person to talk to while I attended St Christopher Grade School (the original one) back in the day. Truly an awesome person and I am sure he'll still keep an eye on all of us from above!
