Read MoreWhat a nice man! My brother & I grew up next door to the Scarpullas while they were still in San Jose. Fond memories of Joe taking time out of his day to chat with the neighborhood boys and take us to 7-11 for Slurpees. He always seemed to be working on a new car in his garage!

Dear Scarpulla family,
My dad spoke of you fondly and often and found a true friend in Joe. His love of family and cars was an instant bond since they met in the Thunderbird Club. I got to know Joe's wonderful spirit and meet the family as we were all visiting and supporting our loved ones in the same rehab unit at the same time. My dad, Ken Harkema, passed away just 2 weeks before Joe and I know they are together talking cars and telling jokes. My sincere sympathy to the family.
