Joe taught me a long time ago up at South Campus, and he was one of the best teachers I ever had. Truly concerned for the students. I used to stop and see him sometimes, and he always had the time to talk. Rest in Peace Mr Scherer. Your a Gentleman

I think joe and I went to school for our ba degree in Kentucky. An Excellent member of the music school with us, and a very fine musician.

Professor Scherer truly taught me the passion needed to be such a wonderful teacher. He was a great English teacher. My sincere condolences to friends and family.

Our deepest sympathy to Mary and the Scherer Family. Joe was a great friend and neighbor for years. We have many fond memories of Joe. Our fondest memories were when we were packing our cars for vacation, laughing and solving the world's woes over a few "side cars". Joe was instrumental in guiding our children's personal and college educations. Your friendship, wit and insight will be surely missed. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
