Not sure what to say?

Joe, we love you and will miss you very much.

Joe's passing was mentioned very briefly in the Prayers of the Faithful at St. Mark the Evangelist Church. At first we were speechless even though we knew Joe had not been in good health recently. We almost always seemed to take our place at mass very close to Joe & Trudy and although we were not close friends, we knew that they were the kind of people that were good Catholics, honest, kindhearted, and a pleasure to talk with. After reading his obituary, I have concluded that Joe "broke...

Joy, peace and comfort unto the whole family we pray. May the Lord's arms of love hold you close at this time and always.

To all the Schmitt's I am sorry to hear about your dad. He was always so kind to me. I will always have the memory of him sitting in his recliner at your house with his glass of ice and a beer poured into it back in the 1960's - I guess he was the one to invent LITE beer. Peace to all

They all spoke very highly of him. His voice was soothing and his smile calming. His eyes were reassuring and correcting at times. But mostly I knew he loved us. When he could, he'd find ways to show it... maybe by buying $500 worth of Girl Scout cookies or tickets to NKOTB and countless Pistons...

Joe and I spent a lot of time together. He was my friend and quickly became family. He took an interest in my family and attended family functions throughout the years. He watch my children grow up and mentored my husband with our window company. He was always there for us and we are so grateful we got to know him so well. He was an amazing man with a heart of gold and we are really going to miss him! We had so many good times together. We took trips to the casino monthly and we watched lots...

I love you forever Daddy. my best friend...and always I will be your "very best girlfriend". you knew my heart..and you fed my heart always. I will miss you every day of my life.

Julie, may Go give you the peace that surpasses ALL undersanding.

When I first started working for Joe, I misspelled his last name in a note to hjim, and he personally corrected me by saying"it thymes with Mitt!" I never misspelled Joe's name again, from that day (I'm thinking it was 1983 on McCandlish Rd office) untill August 12, 2012. I also enjoyed working with many of his children, Especially Jimmy my favorite Schmitt. My thoughts andcondolences to Trudy and all of Joe's Family and Workmates at Several of Joe's Companies I was associated with for near...
