Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home - Wethersfield Obituary

Joseph Servidone, of Rocky Hill, CT, passed unexpectedly Sunday in his home. Joseph was born in Pianopoli, a province of Calabria, Italy, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1961, where he grew up in Hartford’s South End.

He is predeceased by his parents Tommaso Servidone and Teresina Servidone (Cuda), and is survived by his daughter Teresa Servidone and partner Josh Dolger, and their daughter Emma Dolger, and his son Thomas Servidone, along with siblings Mario Servidone, Rose Ciarcia and husband James, Frank Servidone and wife Claire, and Tony Servidone and wife Heather. Joseph was also a proud uncle and great-uncle of his siblings' children.

Joe had a long standing and prosperous career with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles as a computer analyst, where he was well-liked and respected by his colleagues. Joe placed the highest importance on the value of family, and being surrounded by them was what made him happy in life. He also loved the company of friends, especially at home watching soccer or at the Pratolana Society Italian Club on Franklin Avenue in Hartford, where he was an involved member for many years. Joe lived a very active lifestyle. He ran half marathons in Vermont and the Manchester Road Race, which he looked forward to every year with his brothers. Joe also loved his weekly basketball games, weekend soccer games, and tending to his yearly garden. He spent years coaching soccer on his son’s various teams. He enjoyed his volunteer work at the New Britain Museum of American Art, where he served wine and socialized with guests.

He was a proud father and nonno, and looked forward to his weekly visits to Stamford to see his daughter and new granddaughter, who he adored. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, December 5th at the Dillon Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM in Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish (St. James Church), 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.  Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.  Please visit www.dillonbaxter.com to share a memory with the family.
