Not sure what to say?

Knew him by reputation only. I called once to ask him a question and tried to hurry off.... Joe said . I'm not busy, what are you building? And we talked for 20 minutes. Amazing man, had no idea who I was but was interested in what I was doing. #1 in my book. I'll never forget him.

Got to know Joe right after I moved to Ca in the mid 70´s through his dad who was my TV repairman . Bought an engine from him back then that I think is still being used in the car I put it in ( have since sold it .

Overseas fan, sorry to hear this news, he was my guide to build my engines

I just discovered his passing.

Built my 383 stroker in 2011. I was always impressed by his technical abilities and his ability to relate to a common person such as myself.

One of the greats. I would have loved to play cards with him.

Thanks Joe, for a give us the best engines of the world !!!

I will miss joe he always had a smile was a wrath of knowledge he would draw crowds running his engines on dyno you could always talk to him he would help you with problems truly a one of a kind great guy

Sorry to hear about Joe's passing. Knew him at the B'field drags in the 70's & 80's.

Joe was a great person and we had great times racing. I'm glad I still have 3 motors he did while we were having lots of fun with the 409's and our traveling across the country.

My condolences on Joe's passing. 20 yrs ago I called for help. He answered the phone, and told me what I needed to know. Excusing myself saying "I know you're busy, I'll let you go". He said No, it's slow here. Then started asking me about myself, my cars, my projects, my family.... 30 minutes! I am still blown away by what a fine person he was to me. I for one will never forget his humanity. Thanks.
