Helping Others to Think

When there was a problem in the e-mail system at Marsh & McClennan in the World Trade Center, someone would call Joseph Sisolak at home in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, no matter what the hour. Mr. Sisolak, a 35-year-old senior vice president in charge of the e-mail system, would listen but would not hand out an answer. He would tell the caller to think the problem through, a technique that colleagues said made them better at their jobs.

"He just wanted to do the best he could," said his wife, Suzanne. "I think that's why golf appealed to him so much. You had to keep score."

Husband and wife took up golf three years ago, and last summer they played every weekend. Last spring, he joined 20 other men on an annual golf outing to Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was the newcomer, and he brought his enthusiasm to the game. When he parred a hole, he would dance around. He was so excited that he asked to return. Now next spring's getaway has a name: the Joseph Sisolak Memorial Outing.

Not sure what to say?

I'm heartbroken by your passing on 9/11....rest in eternal bliss

Joe, I did not know you but remain close friends with your childhood best friend, Chris Reid. The Reids were visiting our home on 9/11 and told us your story. It stuck with me that you were the only person they knew in New York that day. May you rest in peace.

RIP Joseph. Remembering my second-cousin on this anniversary of his death. We really didn't know each other (I think we met once, and my mom would mention you once in a while) but I'm sure we would have been great friends.

Remembering you today, as always.

The extended Suflita family keeps the remembrance of Joseph M. Sisolak in our hearts and in our thoughts. God bless his immediate family.

Thinking of you today, my friend.

RIP Joseph, from one Sisolak to another, I'm sorry I didn't know you.

Remembering you today Joe, but that is nothing new...think of you often. May God continue to hold Suzanne and your family steady. I will be attending the procession today to the Memorial Garden, and reflecting on a life well lived, but gone too soon.

I remember when we used to drive around Binghamton and have lunch during the BCC days. We again celebrated during Tom's wedding where you were the best man.
I am still shocked and sad. I am lucky to have known you during your time here. Rest in peace.
