Dear Nancy and Family,
Please accept my most sincere condolences.

I knew Joe from riding the KP cancer bus from Irvine to Ontario for radiation treatments. These were cathartic trips in all ways. After treatment ended, a couple of us had lunch with Joe at a Slater Bros. newly constructed restaurant in Newport Beach. On one of our return trips, Joe spotted one of his sons in a company pick-up truck going our our way on 55fwy. To Joe it was a big thing and made him about as happy as a father could be. Dan Slater loved and adored Joe and told us about him therefore he had a Nebraska fan club but did not know it.

I just found out about Joes passing . Joe was my best friend in high school and college . He was my best man in my wedding . We lost touch over the years . I loved Joe and his family . The Slaters gave me a reason to live . I miss all of them . Joe is one of the finest people I have ever known . I miss you my friend .
