During our years at Fordham Law School, I roomed with Doug Spector, a good friend from our Union College days. On Tuesday evenings, Dr. Joe and Janet used to go into Manhattan for dinner and invariably stopped at Zabar's to put together a "care package" for their son and his cash-strapped roomie. Nothing beat their Zabar's care packages. The Spectors treated me like one of their own for decades and are forever in my heart.
