Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences to Joe's family and friends. Growing up in Newport News, Va, and attending the same schools, everyone knew Joe. He was always laughing and smiling. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Thank you Joe for serving our community for many years . Rest in Peace

Oh, St. John. I just found out and my heart is broken. Your were a true mentor in my life and I will never forget you.

My heart goes out to the family of Joseph. We grew up in the same neighborhood and graduated from thecsame high school. The last time we spoke we reminisced about growing in the neighborhood and shared atories of our families and grandkids. He was always so kind. He will be missed!

In loving memory of a friend who impacted many people’s lives ❤

My heart goes out to family and friends during this time of reflection. I have many memories from our work in Newport News.

A great guy and extremely smart. You’ll be missed Joe

Heaven gained an angel and a hero! I'll always remember that contagious smile you had. My condolences go out to his family. RIP

Through a mutual love of music, Joe and I became friends sometime around Middle School/High School. Gregarious and popular, and never shy to share his opinions, he seemed an unstoppable force of nature. Later, we were in a couple of bands together where Joe’s outgoing personality and million-watt smile served him well as lead singer. We would never have guessed then that we would both forge successful careers in Public Safety - Joe with Police, me with Fire. As too often happens in life,...

He was always Captain St. John to me, but the way he spoke and interacted with officers with that warm, assured and proactive manner of leadership was truly respected and inspiring to all of us.
