To have had the honor and privilege to have met and know Joe Thomann and to in some small way have been a member of his extended family, I can say without out a doubt that he was the type of person that upon meeting even for the first time, had a sense of calm grace and pure modesty that is so rare in this day and age. I have met many people in my life, but to know Mr. Thomann was to know a true gentleman. I truly believe that the entire Thomann family now has the best guardian angel ever...

MY SINCERE CONDOLENCE TO THE THOMANN FAMILY.. SGT. JOE WAS ALWAYS A GENTLEMAN IN EVERY WAY. HE WAS THERE WHEN YOU NEEDED HELP AND WAS THERE AS A MENTOR TO ALL. HIS DEMEANOR. SENSE OF HUMOR AND LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY AND THE NYCPD IS SECOND TO NONE.
SGT. JOE WAS TRULY A GREAT GUY AND LOVED BY ALL THAT KNEW AND WORKED WITH HIM. WE ALL MORN THE LOSS OF THIS TRULY GREAT GUY AND HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy. Sgt. Joe Thomann was one of the finest men I ever had the pleasure to know and I was honored to have worked with him.
