Joseph Leonard Torbert Jr.

Joe Torbert was in my life when I was born. He married my sister, Allie, just before I was born. He had a part in naming me Michael and forever called me Mikadoo. He was like a dad to me--he taught me to shoot a bow and arrow, throw a net to catch mullet and go scalloping. When I was older and married, visits from him and Allie were always so special as I knew there would be a "road trip" to rivers, mountains, whatever we could see. I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. How comforting it is to read about the impact he had on other people's lives too, not just us kids. What an awesome dad we had. The memories, laughter and tears at the memorial service were so precious. I know that he and mom are having a good time in heaven and he finally got to meet the "Big Shot". :) I do not believe there was any disrespect for the Lord Jesus Christ when he called Him that. :) That was dad's sense of humor...

Dear Alan,Jen,Terrie&Larry. This from Busterand Ann we are so very sorry to hear about Joe,you have our deepest synpathy, Joe and your Mom were one of our best friends we ever had. We remember the good times ,like our trips to North Carolinia,especially Buster's and Joe's gold mining trip. The great fun your Dad had scalloping. Joe was always on our minds. I'm so saddened to hear of Mr Torbert's passing.
One memory I have of him is when he took me fishing down from their house in Lake Wales..
We were out in a little boat and I was scared we were going to tip over.. well, instead of tipping over I caught my one and only Bass.. I was jumping up and down for joy that we almost did tip over.. we laughed pretty good over that one..
He was such a wonderful, generous and caring man who along with Mrs Torbert opened up their home and hearts...

Dear Jenny, Terrie, Alan, & Larry...
So sorry for your loss. I know you all will have good memories of your dad for years to come. You will have stories to tell for a lifetime. Just know he is with your mom now, and they are having a wonderful time catching up. I know how hard this is for you all, and know that my heart is with you during this time. Well, I haven't seen him since I was about 15... he was an awesome man back then as I'm sure he was right before he passed! My heart goes out to the family. (Josh, Jenny, Kory) .... Love you all!

Mr T. was such an incredible person to have in my life during my teen years. I still remember many of "our" talks whether it involved his pride and joys, the kids, or at the office when I worked for him. What a great group of children he and Mrs T. raised. To this day, I think of him along with Terrie, Larry, Alan and Jen often. The family has my deepest condolences during this toughest of times. I'm so sorry I won't be there in person but please know my thoughts are with you all.

My father was an awesome man, he was a fighter by nature, even though he was ready to go, he still just couldnt let go. I know this is short notice for all of you who knew him to come to his service, but we know how much you cared for him and the memories you share. He and mom had a wonderful life there and so did all of us Terrie, Larry, Alan and me. Love to all. Jenny
