Not sure what to say?

I am sad for you, for the loss that your family is experiencing. I worked with Derek for many years at Borgess in SDS. He was a good guy, he was very passionate about his beliefs, he loved his family and he was a dedicated worker. I have missed him since he retired, it's always sad to lose anyone from our work family. God bless and comfort your family at this difficult time. Deb Spencer

Derek was a good friend since High School.

Very funny, smart and loyal. I shall miss him

very much.

We always liked it when Derek was in our room. Skilled as a CRNA with a great sense of humor. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family
and loved ones.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to Derek's family.
As many have said, he was a wonderful anesthetist. I loved working in an OR room with him, as I knew his/our patients would have excellent care and do well during and after the surgery. His sense of humor always made my day! Many fond memories of working with him. Gone much too soon.

Derek was a friend. Here is a poem for him and his family. SOARING

Soaring aloft

Without a care.
But now,
I'm reminded of sudden storms,
Unpredictable weather.

Flying too close to rain-filled clouds, I lost the sun's light,
Lost my way,
Sightless and confused.
But I do not falter.

I have your heart's beacon to follow
On the way to love's horizon.
A durable compass

I had the privilege of working with Derek during my 20+ years with Kalamazoo Anesthesiolgy. When I worked with him, even in the most difficult of conditions, I always felt confidant that his care for patients was exemplary. His wit and dry sense of humor always added spice to our times together--I often remember thinking, "Did he just say that?" Derek was a superb anesthetist and an even better human being. Life well lived, Derek!

Derek's family,
I played softball with Derek many years. The obit nailed his personality perfectly, fun to be around and have as a friend.
What a great guy..
This a tough one...
