Not sure what to say?

Dear Julie, John and rest of the family, I only learned about Joe in the fall and am so very sorry. He was always such a gentleman and his kids definitely modeled that after him. I think about the times Hunter spent with John whether in sports, out on the snow, or at Grace Adventures horse camp. You have such a closeknit family and I know Jesus has been such a huge part of that. Please accept my sincerest condolences. He was such a good influence for my son Hunter too. I pray that you can...

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family

Julie ... you and the rest of the VanVliet family are in our prayers to be sure. The memories I have of sharing the scorekeepers bench - Joe did the scoreboard, I did the scoresheet - are forever etched in my memory. Joe would, literally, have me laughing from the 1st period to the 3rd ... and then there was the time we both got whistled by the Ref's for yelling about the call(s) they missed! God's blessing upon you and the family, Joe will indeed be missed!

Oh, Julie! We were so sad to learn of Joe's passing. While I did not share Joe's love of youth hockey games, I always enjoyed cheering on our kids while sitting with the VanVliets! Love to you, the kids, and your entire extended families.

Dear Julie and family we are so sorry and sad. For over 40 years Joe was a dear loyal wonderful funny friend. He was loved will be missed and well remembered! Don and Tina

what did joe die from?

I am so saddened to hear of Joe's death. We spent many an hour playing MasterMind, quizzing each other on the former Soviet Bloc countries and drinking malts from the coffee shop while working at Butterworth. Joe was always ready with his quick wit and laughter which made the days we worked together so much fun. He will be missed and the world will have a little less sparkle now that he's gone.

Julie, I was very sad to see Joe died. I always loved having him help me in the hospital when I had surgeries and when I drove your kids to Ada Chr. My prayer is the legacy he left lives on.

With deepest sympathy to Julie & family. Joe was a fun loving person to be around. Always smiling & happy. He will be missed by many of us.
