God Bless you, Joe! Thank you for all your years of serving the children of our community and for your years of Mardi Gras friendship and leadership. You will be greatly missed.

Joe was a beloved friend for 48 years and I will miss him .

A dear friend and colleague at McGill-Toolen for many years. A true gentleman.

So many memories of our lives as teachers, debate moderators/coaches,play/musical directors, retreat supervisors and most of all friends. What great times we had at both of our the bay homes and in Mobile. Will always be grateful for your continued friendship and visits after I moved from Mobile. It was always a treat to have you as a guest at my home in Tuscaloosa and in Mobile.p

A kind, generous, intelligent, playful man; I loved how Mr. Vella was always willing to dive into a deep conversation - even when the surroundings made it awkward. He was also always ready to crack a joke to keep things from getting too heavy. I also loved seeing how excited he was when I helped decorate his Christmas tree in 2015.

Mr. Vella, thanks for the wonderful memories at our beach house, of gormet meals, Coors beer and demonstration of amazing trick skiing. ❤
