I had my father in my life for 61 years and for that I am forever grateful. It was in his later years that he opened up to us, expressing himself thru poetry and out-of-this-world original postcards. In my mind, his intelligence, his wit, his creativity, his unique joys and struggles combined to make him one of a kind.

I was a student when Joe was a chief resident at U.C., where battling one's way up the pyramid was a daunting task. I did not know him well, but admired him for his skill and his personal appearance. He looked the athlete in every way and conducted himself as a gentleman.

He was definitely the leader of the pack and we all see his personality in us. One of the last things he said was that he had a great life and that no one needs to live forever. He will for us. We'll always love you Dad.

I always looked up to Joe. He seemed bigger than life. It was a pleasure to know him and listen to his leather-helmet grid-iron stories. They don't make 'em like him anymore. He will be missed.
