On this date isn't the only day I think about you every year since 2007, but it's the most difficult of those days. I still remember the last time I saw you and I wish we had the chance to know each other better as adults. You are so loved by so many in this world and your name and life will never be forgotten.

Today is not the first day I have thought of you, nor will it be the last. Although I have never met you, I want you to know that you have had a profound impact on our family. Joe, not only were you in the same 2-14 unit as my husband, but also his friend. He still talks about sharing his beloved tasty cake stash with the only other man who would appreciate the delicious treat. Joseph was assigned to my platoon in Fort Stewart, Georgia in 1995/96 when I was assigned as a new platoon leader in 3/7 Infantry, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.
