My condolences to Mr. Wittmann's family and friends. As with many, I never met him, but his invention and product, the Z-Ray, has brought much enjoyment to my life and my family. I took my first cast with a Z-Ray back in about 1976 and it has been my go-to trout lure ever since. I have fished more than 700 wilderness lakes with it (mostly in California), and over 500 of these with my wife Judy; it is safe to say we have caught thousands of trout on Z-Rays. I am very sorry and saddened for the family's loss. I first learned of the Wittman Lure Co. while watching an old gentleman in Texas (Fred Parks) pulling in one rainbow trout after another at a municipal pond in winter. After learning that he was using a zray, I quickly ordered some and became an expert at fishing them. One of the best trout lures I have ever fished.
