RIP Always Dr Z it was a Pleasure working with in Operating Room RWJ Hosp our Condolences to all God Bless Always .

I graduated Rutgers Orthopedic residency under Dr. Zawadsky´s leadership. I owe my success as a surgeon to Dr. Z and his partners who stressed the importance of knowledge, surgical capabilities and bedside manner. My favorite day of the week as chief resident was doing total joint case every Friday with the Boss. After graduating, I called back often for advice on complicated cases, but also just to hear that voice that instilled me with confidence. Thanks for all you did for me, Joe.

I was an operating room nurse in 1983 when I had the privilege of working with Dr. Zawadsky. In 1984 I became his patient with a rotator cuff tear and have a scar that reminds me how lucky I was to have him as my surgeon. I am now at the end of my OR career, and he will always be a surgeon I was proud to know and work with. Robin Homolak

I saw Dr. Zawadsky's death notice only recently in the Princeton Alumni Weekly, hence my late condolences. I am sorry for your family's loss. I wanted to share my personal experience with Dr. Zawadsky - one of probably many thousands out there...

I entered Princeton as a freshman in 1975, and on Friday of the first week of classes and football practice I experienced a severe knee injury which required a "rebuild". Fortunately for me, Dr. Zawadsky was the surgeon. He did a...

His brother John was my mentor at UW. Reading this, I now understand the family's rigor of mind, integrity, devotion to educational-practical prowess. His family must remain proud.

Educator and chairman during my Orthopaedic Residency. He had the ability to communicate and influence both the blue collar worker and the CEO. My condolences to his family.

I just learned of Dr. Z's death, and am so sorry. In addition to being a great guy, he was also my dad's first orthopedic surgeon. The knee replacement he did in the early '80s lasted close to 25 years. No one else's did or does! He was one in a million, and my family will miss him. My deepest condolences to Janet and the rest of the family.

So sorry to hear Dr. Joe has passed. He was bigger than life. He pinned my hip at age 11, he told me by the time you hit 30 you'll be cussing me. Don't worry "Tiger" we'll fix that too with a hip replacement. At age 38 I went to him because of hip trouble, but it was arthritis in my lower spine. He joked that's what happens to guys like us, you're bent over car engines, I'm bent over the operating table. He always seemed to make things better. Dr. Joe, I'm 58 now and I think I may need that...

Our family just found out that Dr. Zawadsky had passed away. He had operated on my husband and our daughter when she was sixteen and use to call her "Petunia" at every visit. He made everyone feel special when you had an appointment. Don't know what we would have done without this special Doctor. My daughter will be so saddened when she hears about him. He was a wonderful doctor and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
