Josephine Burak, age 93, of Brick, NJ passed away on April 20, 2024.  She was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Elizabeth until she married George Burak in 1950; then she and George moved to Clark, NJ, where they resided until moving to Brick in the mid-nineties.  

Josephine worked for RCA Radio in Woodbridge, then with Singer Corp in Elizabeth with her husband prior to becoming a bank manager in Kenilworth before her retirement.  She was active with many organizations, including The Grand Centurions, Clark, the VFW, and the American Legion both in Clark and then in Brick.  Josephine also enjoyed sewing and displaying her creations at many craft shows; she enjoyed traveling with her husband, George, to Alaska, Europe and, around the United States.  

She is preceded in death by her husband George in 2005, her daughter, Candace Hatalla in 2005 and, a granddaughter, Dana Burak-Monticello. 

Surviving Josephine are her sons, Gary A. Burak and his wife Darlene, Stephen R. Burak and his wife Amy; her niece, Candi Rittenburg; seven grandchildren; she is also survived by four great grandchildren.  She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A viewing for Josephine will be offered on Friday April 26, 2024, from 3 pm to 7 pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road Brick, NJ 08723. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made in Josephine’s name to Shriners Hospital, www.shrinerschildrens.org .  The committal will be private.
