Josephine Frances Ferrantelle, 84, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at her home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She battled and conquered renal cell cancer nearly 20 years ago only to succumb to it following its return in 2015. She fought tirelessly with her strong Catholic beliefs as her shield and her family by her side every step of the way.
Josephine was spiritual, energetic, and empathetic her whole life and always stressed those qualities to her children and grandchildren. She was the pillar of strength for her entire family who leaned on her for stability and a sense of security. Her presence was always tender, her cooking wonderful, and love unconditional. She left this world surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. During her in-home hospice care, her daughter Grace, son Frank, and her husband were her caregivers night and day; a mere fraction of what she gave to us throughout our lives together. She will ultimately be remembered as Honey, Mom, Nani, and Nani Jo – the greatest titles one could ever strive for.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carmelina (Mentesana) Cusumano; her sister, Rose Marie Brancato; and her niece, Josephine Brancato. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph Ferrantelle; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Debbie Ferrantelle; her daughter and son-in-law, Grace and David Webb; countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Frances Vazquez; and sister-in-law, Florine Arnone.
The Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Dr., Kansas City, MO 64118. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, at St. Charles Church, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Joe,
We are so sad to hear about Josephine's passing. We will never forget that when we moved into the neighborhood in 1988, she came over with cookies and lemonade, and introduced herself. The two of you have been wonderful neighbors, always helping us and comforting us when we went through trying times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
