Smithfield – Josephine T. (Podsiadlo) Kochanek, 86, of Haven Street died Thursday, June 8 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield in the loving company of her daughter Barbara, her friend Sandra, her nurses Sue and Richard and her N.P. Sue. She was the wife of the late Charles Kochanek, who died in 1987.

Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Szymon and Katherine (Dziob) Podsiadlo, she had lived in Smithfield for the past 47 years.

Mrs. Kochanek obtained her broker’s license in real estate in the late 1960’s and was the owner of Lynn Realty, Smithfield until her retirement in 1984.

She loved reading as well as designing and sewing women’s clothing. Her work was impeccable.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Henault of Smithfield, who was her caretaker for many years; a brother, Stanley Podsiadlo and his wife Ruth of North Attleboro, MA; 2 nieces and a nephew. She was the grandmother of the late Alexis Caleb Fickett and the sister of the late Matthew Podsiadlo.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 12 at 10 A.M. in the Chapel at St. Antoine, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield. Burial will be private.
